My Dino Park

CoolReal is a mobile game developer and publisher, based in Shanghai, China, that mainly focuses on Casual Game Simulation games for Android and iOS. My Dino Park simulates an archaeological excavation site in which players collect dinosaur fossils and merge them together to evolve. In China, the game received over 100 million registered users and over 4 million DAU at most.



The Challenge

Back in 2020, the pandemic brought many opportunities as well as challenges for game developers. The global gaming market changed rapidly as players became pickier.


Although My Dino Park has proved to be successful in its home market of China, the global market is full of players with completely different cultural backgrounds and preferences. Players in key Western markets such as the United States and Europe have high requirements for UI and My Dino Park had a relatively complicated UI.


Publishing Globally, CoolReal was a beginner with no experience, and encountered many pitfalls including localization, cross-border payment, and technical challenges. CoolReal needed an experienced and professional partner for its global publishing.



The Solution

1.Game Evaluation

The first stage of the XTiming Accelerator Program was to evaluate and optimize the game to better suit global audiences. With rich experience in localization and a thorough understanding of user preferences, our XTiming members provided market trends and competitor performance data, and suggested CoolReal to optimize My Dino Park’s UI design, including its sign-in system, collection system and store interface, as well as the interactions of its dinosaur merging design.


Localization is the key to success when publishing globally. XTiming provided solutions on local languages, device preferences, monetization strategies, social media behaviors and cultural taboos.



2. UA Test

After evaluation and optimization, My Dino Park moved into the UA test phase, which is to acquire around 1,000 users in the United States for testing purposes. With expertise and data-driven technology, the XTiming team provided full service and constant technical support including integrating SDKs, using event tracking points to implement an analytic platform, designing original ad creatives, optimizing the Facebook fan page, etc.


This was to test every possibility for My Dino Park, XTiming set up a combination of different advertising platforms on iOS and Android such as Facebook+iOS, Facebook+Android, Google+Android, etc. 


3. Data Analysis

Accurate data analysis is the only way to see the key problems in the game. My Dino Park went through two stages of launch tests with multiple combinations, generating large sets of data. XTiming analyzed the game’s operation data, ad monetization, user acquisition data, and provided optimization suggestions accordingly. 


To expand monetization, XTiming analyzed players low demand for in-game currency, ad performance, and game acceptance by users.

 


The Results

With constant service provided by XTiming, CoolReal optimized My Dino Park’s gameplay and monetization strategy. 


The UA test and event tracking allowed CoolReal to acquire raw data on the status of the game, understanding user’s behavior and where the problems are. Through data analysis, XTiming found that players’ low demand for gold coins in the game was due to its overproduction in the early stage; and players low demand for diamonds in the game was due to its unbalanced speed. Alongside this, XTiming constantly optimized My Dino Park’s waterfall settings according to real-time data, which helped CoolReal maximize its IAA revenue. 


Over the past two years, 2,000+ indie game titles entered the XTiming Accelerator Program to publish globally. Games like My Dino Park received expertise and data-driven technology to win global audiences, grow rapidly and expand monetization.
